Hey there, fellow family travelers! At ExploreWithYourKids.com, where we’re all about

creating epic vacations that teens actually get excited about (no eye-rolling allowed!). We’ve road-tested resorts across the Caribbean with our own crew and Aruba is one of our all-time favorite destinations. The turquoise water, the constant breeze, the safety factor – it’s basically parent heaven and teen paradise rolled into one happy island.
One question we get constantly: Divi All-Inclusive (and its sister properties) or Riu Palace Aruba when traveling with older teens? Both are solid all-inclusives on gorgeous beaches, but they deliver very different vibes. After multiple stays and chatting with dozens of families, here’s our honest breakdown to help you decide.
The Quick TL;DR
Choose Divi if your teens love freedom, water sports, space to roam, and a chill-but-active low-rise vibe. More “independent teen” energy.
Choose Riu Palace Aruba if you want a glitzier high-rise feel, easier walk to shops/restaurants, and a pool scene that feels like a party (without being wild).
Beach & Location
Both resorts sit on world-class beaches, but they’re different stretches.
Divi Aruba / Tamarijn (Low-Rise Area) | Riu Palace Aruba (High-Rise / Palm Beach)
Beach | Druif/Eagle Beach – wider, whiter, calmer, less crowded. Perfect for long walks and water sports. | Palm Beach – lively, great people-watching, more watersports vendors right out front. |
Location vibe | Quieter, more spread-out resort campus. Feels like your own little village. | Right in the action – walk to malls, restaurants, Bubali Bird Sanctuary, casinos. |
Teen win | Teens can safely roam the huge property (golf carts shuttle everywhere). | Teens can walk off-resort for bubble tea, souvenirs, or just to feel “grown-up.” |
Winner for older teens: Tie – depends if your kids want chill beach days (Divi) or a bit more off-resort energy (Riu).
Pools & Activities for Teens
This is where the difference really shows.
Divi (access to Divi + Tamarijn + sometimes Dutch Village/Golf) | Riu Palace Aruba
Pools | Multiple pools across properties, including some with swim-up bars and quieter ones. Not huge, but plenty of variety. | Two big freshwater pools + kids pool (but teens use the main ones). Swim-up bar, very social scene. |
Included water sports | Snorkel gear, kayaks, floats, windsurfing lessons, catamaran snorkel trips, 30-ft rock climbing wall on the beach (!!). | Kayaks, paddle surfing, one introductory scuba dive, snorkel gear. |
Teen-specific activities | No formal teen club, but tons of self-directed fun: beach volleyball, pool games, bike rentals, rock wall, tennis, fitness classes. Teens just meet up organically. | RiuLand kids club is 4-12 only. Entertainment team does beach volleyball, water aerobics, etc. Teens hang at the pool or sports bar. |
Evening entertainment | Live music, beach parties, theme nights – laid-back and family-friendly. | Flashier shows, live music, access to Pacha disco next door (at sister property Antillas – 18+ after certain hours). |
Winner for older teens: Divi – that rock wall and free non-motorized water sports keep adventure-loving teens busy all day without extra cost. Our kids lived on the kayaks and snorkel trips.
Food & Drinks
Both are all-inclusive, so unlimited food and drinks, but styles differ.
Divi: 10–12 restaurants across Divi + Tamarijn (with MEGA all-inclusive you get even more). Fresh grill, pizza oven, Asian, Italian – and the quality is surprisingly good for AI. Teens love the late-night pizza and burger spots.
Riu: 5+ restaurants (buffet + à la cartes). Food gets higher marks from many families – more variety at the buffet, steakhouse is solid. Famous for the 24-hour sports bar and patisserie/ice cream station.
Winner: Slight edge to Riu for buffet variety and late-night snacks, but Divi wins on number of à la carte options (no reservations needed at many).
Rooms & Overall Vibe
Divi: Low-rise buildings, spacious lanai/patio rooms, recently refreshed. Feels relaxed and spread out – perfect if your teens want space.
Riu: Tall towers, modern renovated rooms, liquor dispensers in-room (hello, responsible teen mocktails!). More “resort glamorous” feel.
The Bottom Line for Teen-Traveling Parents
If your older teens are water-sports addicts, love having room to explore safely on

their own, and don’t need a formal teen club, Divi (especially with access to Tamarijn) is pure gold. Our kids still talk about the rock wall and snorkeling right off the beach.
If your crew wants a livelier pool scene, easier access to shops, and a slightly more upscale “wow” factor, Riu Palace Aruba delivers.
Both are fantastic and safe – you honestly can’t go wrong. We’ve done both and would happily return to either. The real winner? Aruba itself
.
